Welcome to the Department of Art and Design
The Art and Design Department at Altrincham College firmly believes that art is all around us, and that, in all its forms, art provides us with the material that society is built upon.
From the clothes we wear and the daily objects we use, to the images we see and the buildings we live in, the products of the visual arts world are absolutely everywhere in our lives, 24/7.
It is our firm belief that Art and Design forms an integral part of the school curriculum and that every child should experience and enjoy this creative subject. Our philosophy is that you don’t have to be the best at drawing to enjoy the subject but to come to lessons prepared to experience an exciting and broad curriculum in a safe learning environment for all students of all abilities in which they can flourish.
The Art and Design department is also committed to preparing its students for commercial and vocational careers in a wide variety of media.

Facilities
In the main school, we have 2 specialist art rooms which are well-resourced with materials and equipment.
In our state-of-the-art Sixth Form, we have a professional art teaching studio, which is spacious, well-resourced and fully equipped to allow our students to have an outstanding learning experience across a range of A Level and vocational courses.
We also have our own fabulous school gallery which is used to exhibit students' work, professional artist exhibitions and also hold workshops with visiting artists, with our own and students from local schools.
